Pedestal Cake Stand EAPG Dalzell Brothers and Gilmore Glass Co. No. 21D (OMN) Daisy and Button Petticoat Starred Block Antique Serveware

This antique EAPG Early American Pattern Glass No. 21D (OMN) pedestal cake stand was manufactured by Dalzell Brothers & Gilmore Glass Co. around 1887. It measures 7 1/4" tall with a 1/4" raised edge. 10" across the petticoat with a 8 3/4" interior top measurement and 5 1/4" diameter base. The pattern of the glass is No 21D (OMN) AKA: Daisy and Button Petticoat; Daisy Band; Panel and Button Petticoat Band; Starred Block. It has the petticoat with daisy and button, a daisy band around the base and a deep well in the centre for rum or brandy.

Condition: In great condition for its age. Some evidence of use with some surface scratching on the top of the platter and one of the 'daisies' on the petticoat/side is chipped, please see photos for more detail. There are visible air bubbles in the glass and seams from the mould which are characteristic of its age and how it was made. All considering, the glass is sparkly and clear, this cake stand was decorated with the same attention to detail and craftsmanship as a Victorian house with ornate detailing which you just don't see in this day and age. This would make a lovely display/conversation piece in a bakery or coffee shop or at a bridal shower or even as a dazzling centrepiece for a wedding cake. Please refer to the pictures as they are a part of the description. If you have any concerns about the condition or you require more detail I can provide additional photographs on request.

Frequently Asked Questions

Care instructions

Most vintage and antique glassware should be hand washed only and not in the dishwasher; especially any pieces with graphics or colourful patterns, for example Pyrex, Fire King, Glasbake, Corelle, drinkware, etc. Dishwashers can dull the finish on these unique pieces and cause premature wear to the surface and patterns or cause what is known as DWD or Dishwasher Damage which is irreversible. It's always better to be safe and wash by hand if you can.

Add some dish washing liquid into a sink or basin and add warm water. Placing a towel underneath can help to avoid breakage. It is best to use a damp cloth for any pieces with hand-painted decorations to preserve the art as even regular hand-washing can degrade these over time.

Does your store offer local pick-ups?

Absolutely! If you would like to coordinate a local pick-up in Durham Region you may either purchase the items and send a note after the fact to request a pick-up and we will then refund your shipping costs; or you can send a message prior to the order to request the local pick-up and we can remove the shipping costs on the items you wish to purchase. Ordering the items immediately will guarantee availability; this is the ideal method to ensure your selection(s) are not purchased by someone else in the interim, in case we do not respond to your inquiry soon enough (we will respond within 24 hours; however, we may not be available at the exact moment of your message)
