Ceramic Deviled Egg Tray Yellow Rose Sovereign Potters Canada Golden Glory Ironstone Pottery Serving Platter Relish Plate Vintage Serveware

This lovely English Ironstone mid-century platter is from Sovereign Potters in their hard to find Golden Glory pattern with a single long stem yellow rose. The yellow and green colours are vibrant and the design has a painterly quality to it. The ironstone was made by Johnson Brothers in England and then shipped to Hamilton, Ontario, Canada where the decoration was applied at Sovereign Potters studios. Measures 9 1/4 inches in diameter.

Condition: This deviled egg plate is in excellent preloved vintage condition. There are no cracks or crazing; however, there are two tiny pinhole sized imperfections in the glaze which feel rough to the touch (pictured in photo #6.) and one imprint in the ceramics. This plate would look so delightful with deviled eggs which would compliment the decoration so beautifully! Please refer to the pictures as they are a part of the description. If you have any concerns about the condition or you require more detail I can provide additional photographs on request.

Please note that all sales on vintage/antique items are final. There are no cancellations once your shipment has been received by the post office and there are no returns or exchanges. More info on Sovereign Potters Canada:
"From the Hamilton Public Library: Sovereign Potters Limited -- 282 Sherman Avenue North. 1933-1973. Sovereign Potters Limited was formed in 1933 by W. G. Pulkingham and Alfred Etherington with the financial support of a group of local businessmen, and was one of Canada's largest manufacturers of fine porcelain and earthenware. Operations began on a modest scale; however, with the outbreak of war the company boomed, supplying army china. At its peak in 1946 and 1947, it employed about 450 people. On July 1, 1947, the company was purchased by British dinnerware manufacturer Johnson Brothers (Hanley) Ltd. In 1952, W. H. Hall was sent by the parent company to become president of its Canadian operations. It continued to manufacture dinnerware until 1958 when it concentrated on the production of ceramic wall tiles and decorated blanks sent out from England. The company underwent a name change (H. & R. Johnson (Canada) Ltd.) and a new address at 15 Biggar Avenue. (HPL) Unfortunately, like many other lost and forgotten Hamilton industries little else is known."

Frequently Asked Questions

Care instructions

Most vintage and antique glassware should be hand washed only and not in the dishwasher; especially any pieces with graphics or colourful patterns, for example Pyrex, Fire King, Glasbake, Corelle, drinkware, etc. Dishwashers can dull the finish on these unique pieces and cause premature wear to the surface and patterns or cause what is known as DWD or Dishwasher Damage which is irreversible. It's always better to be safe and wash by hand if you can.

Add some dish washing liquid into a sink or basin and add warm water. Placing a towel underneath can help to avoid breakage. It is best to use a damp cloth for any pieces with hand-painted decorations to preserve the art as even regular hand-washing can degrade these over time.

Does your store offer local pick-ups?

Absolutely! If you would like to coordinate a local pick-up in Durham Region you may either purchase the items and send a note after the fact to request a pick-up and we will then refund your shipping costs; or you can send a message prior to the order to request the local pick-up and we can remove the shipping costs on the items you wish to purchase. Ordering the items immediately will guarantee availability; this is the ideal method to ensure your selection(s) are not purchased by someone else in the interim, in case we do not respond to your inquiry soon enough (we will respond within 24 hours; however, we may not be available at the exact moment of your message)
